Bloomberg opened its coverage of China’s AI model surge with my assessment: “The most important change since January 2025 is that China’s progress no longer looks like a single-company breakthrough. The first DeepSeek moment looked exceptional. The recent releases suggest China now has a repeatable system for producing models close to the global frontier.”
The Financial Times closed its big read on ByteDance’s AI transformation with my analysis: the company is pursuing a portfolio strategy for sourcing AI chips, and compute supply “is the constraint that binds everything else.”
Reuters used my estimate of AI agent token consumption to explain the business logic behind Alibaba’s pivot to AI agents. Reuters Breakingviews built on the same analysis to explain how Alibaba connects its agent, Qwen, and cloud businesses.
CNN quoted my assessment of Moonshot’s Kimi K3: “DeepSeek was a surprise. K3 is evidence that China’s progress is becoming more repeatable.”
The Economist cited my analysis in coverage of ByteDance’s infrastructure constraints, China’s AI employment concerns, and Xpeng’s robotics pivot.
WIRED cited my analysis of OpenClaw token economics in its coverage of China’s AI agent boom.
The Wire China has drawn on my analysis across multiple pieces covering humanoid robots, export controls, Nvidia Blackwell, robotaxi competition, and AI infrastructure costs.
Rest of World cited my assessment of Chinese AI models entering the US market: usage is growing rapidly through open-source and low pricing, but converting that usage into enterprise trust and sustainable revenue remains an open question.
