I’m Poe Zhao (赵赛坡), an independent China technology analyst based in Beijing with over 12 years of experience covering China’s tech industry.

I founded Dailyio Media, one of China’s earliest independent tech insight platforms, and previously served as editor-in-chief of Synced (机器之心), one of China’s leading AI media platforms. I also served as editor at TechTarget, covering enterprise technology.

What I Do

I read China’s technology ecosystem in its native language every day: IPO prospectuses, regulatory filings, government procurement databases, SOE deployment reports, and industry reporting from 36Kr, Jiemian, and LatePost. I translate the structural forces underneath the words for a global audience.

The output: 240+ analyses published, new deep dives every week (two to four a week, depending on the news), a monthly research report, and 20+ original analytical frameworks. The newsletter reaches 5,900+ subscribers worldwide, including investors, corporate strategists, and policy researchers.
