About

I’m Poe Zhao (赵赛坡), an independent China technology analyst based in Beijing with over 12 years of experience covering China’s tech industry.

I founded Dailyio Media, one of China’s earliest independent tech insight platforms, and previously served as editor-in-chief of Synced (机器之心), one of China’s leading AI media platforms. I also served as editor at TechTarget, covering enterprise technology.

My analysis has been cited by Reuters, The Economist, CNN, AFP, WIRED, South China Morning Post, The Wire China, The Straits Times, and Rest of World.

What I Do

I read China’s technology ecosystem in its native language every day: IPO prospectuses, regulatory filings, government procurement databases, SOE deployment reports, and industry reporting from 36Kr, Jiemian, and LatePost. I translate the structural forces underneath the words for a global audience.

The output: 170+ deep dives published, three new analyses every week, 20+ original analytical frameworks. Read by 5,000+ investors, corporate strategists, and policy researchers worldwide.

What I Cover

How I Work

I operate as a written-only analyst. All media interactions, institutional briefings, and professional communications are conducted in writing. I do not participate in phone calls, video calls, podcasts, or speaking engagements.

I maintain editorial independence and do not accept partnerships that compromise the integrity of my analysis.
